I saw a cartoon that portrayed a young kid opening his mail, with an expression of glee. He’d just received a letter offering free college tuition. On the other side of the cartoon was an older man who was griping about being on the other side of that hypothetical equation, complaining about having to pay for tuition for people he’s never even met (and who might squander away the opportunity as well, no doubt).
