2018 July 12- Bad Words, Offended Culture

Hello!  And welcome to this absolute mess… no, DISASTER! – of a rough-edit page.

I’m trying to capture some novel (at least, novel to ME) ideas that “came to me” over the past day or so.  The ideas or the themes behind them have been assembling themselves in my mind on and off for an unspecified amount of time.  By putting keyboard switch signal patterns to CPU, RAM, GPU, and LED visual output.. or pen to paper.. I hope to further crystallize and ‘gel’ certain ideas in my mind.. into a refined format that makes it easier to express and share with others.  This may be used as part of a joint project later on.

YOU’VE HEARD OF BAD IDEAS, BAD IDEAS?

HOW ABOUT BAD WORDS, BAD WORDS?

‘Bad words’ can be used to control populations.

Okay so, where do bad words come from?  I mean, who or what creates them, or assigns them their ‘bad’ status?  Meaning, what is their source or motive force?

Well, the culture or society-at-large does, right?
In the “good old days”, the idea of ‘bad words’ or ‘foul language’ – that is, language that was considered foul, improper, uncouth, offensive…
Instead of teaching kids coping skills and how to let bad words or name calling roll right off of them, and making sure that they have their OWN individual sense of self and identity and emotional security in themselves… They have instead gone the opposite route, by policing language and thoughts and ideas.
This is a serious question … even though it may at first sound like just nonsense
Let’s look at the history and context of bad words.  Where they come from

How they evolve

Right now in our generation the ‘bad words’ themselves are shifting drastically.
What used to be bad words are now becoming ‘acceptable’ – or losing their power
I don’t think anyone can really argue against that…
But what I (and presumably many others) never really noticed (at least consciously) is that while our old-school classic bad words are losing their edge,
We are slowly being introduced – indoctrinated? – into a whole new ‘bad words’ – or, should I say, a new paradigm of “word control” or “word policing” system.

A whole brand new system to regulate what language we can’t use!  (Great, huh?)   With totally different context, and meanings, uses/applications..
Okay.. enough bs introduction stretching that intro/summary out

But we could have gone two different ways as far as ‘bad words’ like concepts like racism:  There are many words with racist connotations and insinuations..  (actually, I think I prefer to use “bullying” – racism is just a personal preference that some people choose to identify with – it simply describes a rather outmoded way of identifying individuals based on their group membership – like how some people feel that they have the right to tell others, based on their skin color, what words they are allowed to use or not.

It is a barrier preventing us from ever being able to connect
divide and conquer
instead of ‘words can never hurt me”
it’s now, kids are being pandered to and pampered so much taht now words DO hurt them. they’re mentally conditiond to feel pain from them.
This was done allegedly out of empathy or mercy
To protect their little feelings
But in chasing that empathy rabbit hole, we are now lost in a world where two friends cannot speak candidly in public, where strangers might get involved and ‘stick up’ for someone,
It’s really so insane, do you know what i’m talking about
people taking seocnd hand offense
People want to feel useful and justify their existence… they need a moral crusade.. and they are turning the world into a fascist state
i’m trying to flesh out this idea into words
Humans are being traind and condiitoned like dogs
school agendas, media
It is a real shame, and i am asking myself how it got this bad.. to where people are so dumb and weak, and have tantrums and are triggered from a word. It really is like the days of the old testament or something, like magic or spells
Let me try to epxlain it liek this: Instead of teaching kids coping skills and how to let bad words or name calling roll right off of them, and making sure that they have their OWN individual sense of self and identity and emotional security in themselves.. They have instead gone the opposite route, by policing language and thoughts and ideas.
Does that make sense to you? I mean, am i explainig what i’m trying to say correctly
Basically i’m saying that teachers and our cultural narrative of victim/oppressor (marxism?) is actually harming us, not protecting or helping us
I think it’s pretty deep and profound
they are instead of strengthening th eindividual children, they are weakening them
conditioning them, trained like dogs to react to certain commands
This all prevents us from being able to connect intimately with each other. Because all we can do if we cannot even discuss or acknowledge certain VERY IMPORTANT concepts and ideas – for example, the idea that it’s healthy to be in good shape? Or that on average, males are stronger than women physically? But what I also want to add is that we are losing ourselves in this culture war. We claim to support diversity, but what we are actually doing is destorying diversity, and instead of celebrating our individuality and uniqueness as human beings… each of us full of amazing potential, and with particular skills – we are each unique, not just one giant mass of stuff like a hive

What are the new bad words then?

It’s things like racially or sexually offensive .. not just WORDS per se, but IDEAS.  Really, it’s more about censoring actual THOUGHTS themselves, not just singular words (words which can easily be replaced as they’re interchangeable with G-rated versions).  But with thought crimes, there is NO alternative.  The thoughts themselves must be arrested, because they must not ever be spoken or acknowledged.
This keeps us from ever being able to think or discuss reality, our reality, someone else’s reality – and in fact, instead of bringing us together by ostensibly protecting us from having our feelings hurt, it instead is ISOLATING us from each other.

At the collective level, for example, different races and different genders cannot build the communication bridges that are absolutely vital, and conducive to reaching mutual understanding and cooperation.

Instead of the old-school approach of properly adapting ourselves as individuals to the reality of the situation in the world: ‘sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me’ – we’ve twisted that notion around backwards, to where, by banning or regulating thoughts, ideas, and communication (allegedly to protect people’s feelings from being damaged), we are literally building a new society where people cannot communicate at an intimate level.  We are becoming more and more connected through our mobile devices and so on, yet at a deeper level, we’ve never been more alone.

but there are many more and if you really think about them, you may start to pick up on subtle patterns and themes
Name calling
remember when people called each other “names” like, say, “faggot”?
Lol, that word was SO damn popular back in the 80s right
Since almost every other bad word was so severely restricted
..
The populace (lol… great, right?  “The Populace”… haha)
Turned to the ‘softer’ bad words.  Faggot was after all a bundle of sticks, so innocent.  Very fascistic too
A bunch of rods is stronger than individual rods
called a ‘fascia’ right
or fascii

“Weaponized Law & Assault Politics”

-The idea probably stems in my mind from discussions about Big Pharma and the FDA; Wall Street and the SEC; mainstream media and the FCC; etc. etc.

-Deals with how the USA and other governments/nations are evolving and developing, transforming together as part of a global amalgam of nations, with increasing interdependency chains

-Considers whether ‘capitalism’ – or at least whatever it is that the USA presently runs on – the strange alliances that intertwine between Big Gov’t and Big Media (mainstream ‘broadcast’ media + Hollywood & TV series) – is short circuiting on itself.

-The profit-motivated media – both mass media, and smaller more specialized social media outlets – are dividing us, not only as Americans or other global citizens, but even as human beings.  We are more connected, digitally, anyway, than ever before, yet new research indicates a clear trend suggesting we feel more alone

-We communicate largely through our mobile devices (which, incidentally, can monitor, record, and analyze our personal interactions:  Someday, it seems inevitable, with the power of AI, almost everything we are now typing, saying, and doing – including our physical movements and time-stamped GPS positions plotted in real-time – will one day be processed and analyzed, our every movement being accountable – and quite likely, WE will be accountable to IT.  Who can really even say just how that might turn out!?

Is it Capitalism?  Or is it Corporatism?  (Or, does it even matter?)

Our great nation has been a guiding light for freedom.  But is our light dying out?

What has our form of “capitalism” morphed into, considering how tightly government regulates our industries?  How it even, to a degree, manages & partners with them?

It’s fundamental; there is an exponentially intensifying ‘feedback loop’ between the media, the masses, and gov’t – and it seems to be reaching a fever pitch.

You know how clickbait works, right?  When Internet-based businesses, often websites, build cross-linked webpages set up in such a way to keep the users inside the part of the ‘web’ that the content provider/advertising company controls (and profits from) – where the goal is to use the Web as a “farm” from which to “harvest” revenue by generating user actions/inputs like (mouse) “clicks” on the webpages…

…the clicks are counted, user behaviors are recorded and carefully measured, and the data is then used to continually shape the Web user’s Internet experience dynamically in such a way that the information being presented is custom-tailored, modified based on the user’s behavior and previously analyzed habits (as we are all naturally creatures of habit)

All of this takes place for the main objective of more or less manipulating the Internet user (through visual cues, news stories, photographs, movies/videos, music, and anything else available) to get him or her to “click” on as many specific revenue-generating links, buttons, or images as possible.

Clicking on some links brings in more revenue than others; some clicks don’t generate any revenue at all.  The main point however is that while all this is taking place, almost all users (or with TV, viewers) – are never even conscious or aware of what happens while they think they are simply watching television, or participating in social media.

The inner workings of the audio-visual machinery and the wily ways of the programming behind the scenes, uses powerful algorithms live-linked to huge databases, silently and transparently changing what you see on the screen – not just advertising, but in many cases what news stories are mathematically selected, just for your viewing pleasure!

All of this takes place unnoticed, and unquestioned.  Most people have no idea about any of these operations taking place.  It truly is amazing how invisibly and almost silently our modern echo chambers can operate!

=======

“…i was flipping thru fox, msnbc and cnn

And yeah but here’s the kicker

it also is taking place at the grassroots level!

how insane is that?

so it all .. works together

like an orchestra of madness…”

What i mean is that even independent media outlets are playing the same game, just from a different angle – for example, using PPC clickbait.

With echo chambers and news sites with specific leanings and slants, virtually every niche target audience can be reached, and served with VERY specific advertising that is literally custom-tailored for you, all the way down to the individual level!

And… they’re doing it, many of them, just to chase a profit motive: In other words, there is absolutely NO need to even so much as entertain any “conspiracy theories” to validate any of these links.

So, it doesn’t require a “conspiracy theory” per se, as such:  But it does, in an organic, emergent, self-organizing sort of way, behave exactly like a coordinated, centrally directed, organized operation would be expected to behave!

=======

more advertising

it’s like we’re witnessing the birth of a new life form or world

a genuine, new natural phenomenon

each media outlet being aimed at a particular market segment/audience, in accordance with the regular old rules of providing a product/service to a market, catering to the demand

and, being responsible to shareholders and profit, they MUST keep us enthralled and addicted to it

when they COULD simply do a public service and good, by changing from ‘clickbait’ or those cable tv shows with high ratings – that is to say, the top earners that simply bask in divisive and negative rhetoric, potentially damaging the social fabric of our communities and our country by exacerbating and fanning the flames on controversies like racism, racial or gender-based intolerance, bigotry!

That stuff gets a lot of views; we (John Q. Public) simply eat it up, and can never get enough.  It’s as if we are enraptured and addicted to watching – and thus, via the Positive Feedback Loop outlined in this article by yours truly ( 🙂 ) – contributing to – our own demise and destruction.  (Wow… Ouch!  That’s harsh, man!)  😦

It’s just so crazy; no one can actually walk up to each other across the little ‘divides’ and shake hands…

…because why?  because the audience demands drama!

literally the entire world is BECOMING a reality tv show, and a play!

  “All the world’s a stage!”

The public is the audience, and what happens ‘on stage’ is based on the ‘votes’ and views and clicks of the public.

It’s like an episode of Black Mirror where everyone is rated and performance quality is evaluated on the fly, rated from 1 to 5 “stars”.  The politicians are like the actors/characters on the “world stage”… literally, a stage

This is REAL.

Like with the letter to your senators, for instance

AI and Human Intelligence takes all those letters we’ve written to our Congress, I’m sure, and checks off certain little boxes, and fills up entries in spreadsheets, and tabulates them.  It gets them into a computer-manageable format, algorithms then sort it out, and by the end of the day, all those inputs end up directing the “play”

oh! and another thought i had last night… was how if we relinquish authority and responsibilites to an AI… well, it will have power, right?  and it won’t have to follow the law

because it will make the law, and also you can’t really go in there and change the code, from what i understand, it’s all mysterious and takes on a life of its own.. the “black box”…

so what if it decides to be prejudicially discriminating, or even outright racist? what can anyone do?  tell it no?

Think about how humans process information and sort it.  How we THINK.  now think about racism, sexism, prejudice etc

these are not aberrant perversions of the mind.. they are universal methods of evaluation, used by animals, humans, maybe even plants too.

I think we’ve made a grave mistake in how we decided to deal with offensive language / bad words…

we could have done one of two things… 1.  try to regulate language and thought, and train people not to use descriptive language because it’s offensive.. like calling someone ‘fat’ or a skin color or a minority descriptor, or whatever.  WHY should any word be offensive?  How the heck did we, such advanced life forms as we are, ever come to be

but we should have chosen the other path!!! which would have been, to teach each other coping skills… i don’t mean encourage apathy, but desensitize people so they aren’t HYPERsensitive..  and just have a laugh about how silly it all is (rather than getting triggered and having a mental breakdown on the spot, almost on command, like a preprogrammed subject of hypnosis)

like offensive slurs and so on … We’ve basically as a society .. instead of moving past it, we’ve ENSHRINED it

And also made ourselves so weak and easily manipulated, and it’s literally thought control, to be firing people and ruinig their lives for the thoughts they have and the words they choose… Yet, these habits and “wrongthink” – for example, people who heartily embrace their errant views (such as racial prejudice)

And it’s TOTALLY selectively enforced!!!  I don’t just mean white people aren’t allowed to use this and that word… (btw that ALONE does more to build walls/boundaries rather than bridges between us)

(i apologize; this is so hard to explain and paint the picture in a verbally concise manner)

so the one idea is that instead of becoming resilient and holding steadfast to our humanity and compassion..  embracing love, rejecting hate, keeping anger and hostility at a bare minimum…  and also not letting words have power over us…

Instead, we have gone the wrong way; the opposite of peace, by trying to protect peoples feelings.  This has the effect of convincing them that if they hear certain slurs or words, that they’re about to be murdered

And should thus react defensively

it’s horrible what is happening to us. I almost said what ‘they are doing to us’  .. but really, it may just be emergent behavior

did i tell you about how society is totally shifting the concept of “bad words”?

bad words used to be just the use of certain words – not the meaning or intent behind them.  I mean, the FCC blocks words on a blacklist, mostly based on what words they are, often regardless of the context or meaning.  Words like s*it, a*s, f*ck, etc. can very easily be edited out and replaced without losing ANY of the original meaning, intent, idea, or thought behind it.

But now, that same idea of forbidden words – is now changing into a sort of mind control

Because it isn’t just particular words themselves, but actual ideas, thoughts, even… Where are the Thought Police?

If something might be taken offensively by someone, then it’s considered a personal assault, and bystanders now will engage and intervene/interfere with private conversations, ostensibly to stand up for the ‘victim’ of the verbal ‘abuse’ – even when in reality, it was just two close friends talking to each other, and no one was a victim or being offended.  This is second-hand empathic offense being taken, quite liberally.

In the past, bad words were things like curse words and obscenity… outbursts of anger, expressions of hostility, references to sexual acts etc.

But now, things like that are welcomed and accepted even in kids movies/shows… and as for sex acts, that’s now encouraged even in kindergarteners

Meanwhile, instead of being liberated, tho, we are becoming enslaved, where no one can actually express their thoughts or THINK, even, out of fear that the truth will be spoken

And the truth is what is offensive.  This is just one side-effect of allowing children to grow into adults while being completely sheltered from reality.

Take for instance, certain trends, such as plus size models, that being embraced now as good and healthy, etc… Pride, that’s what i think the message is… all about pride.  Was thinking, i guess the intention is that shame is unhealthy, and if you replace shame with pride, then it’s all good… But pride is not a good thing.  I’m not sure where pride itself started being applied or attached to things that have previously been shameful – things people would have been embarassed about.  You know about the “participation trophies” and stsuff like that?

Think about this: Accomplishment is something to feel good about.  Pride, alone, is considered to be harmful: “Pride comes before the fall”… meaning, pride and arrogance can go along with ignorance, which allows us to feel content without the requisite accomplishment of anything being necessary first.

You can think of this as being a way to hijack the brain’s reward circuits, so that instead of working toward goals and achievements, like it’s designed to do.. the emotional transmission or drive system, we simply justify complacency by patting ourselves on the back for just being as passive and lazy as possible, rejecting age-old traditional human values that have served us so well.

Values such as being the best you can be, doing your best work, applying yourself to a goal that, once achieved, allows the brain to release feel-good chemicals.  Behaviorally, the cultural and social continuation of that is in the form of a party, celebration, going out to eat for dinner together, wine/beer/inebriants, kicking back and relaxing:  It’s a natural cycle.  Just as animals, after a successful hunt, relax after feeding.

Over the past years, our culture has been steadily shifting away from that model, and pride (that is, self-pride..  is not only being embraced as something really good, but it is also being taught as something to be proud of, even if there is no accomplishment:

For example, the relatively recent trend of criticizing doctors for telling their obese patients that they ought to try to get themselves into better shape.  Out of genuine care and concern for their patients, most doctors sincerely want to help their patients avoid the many painful complications that obesity and poor physical health are scientifically known to cause

shit.. lol, i am literally typing out a fucking essay or soemthing

i hope it’s good when i finish, this will be published on wordpress

5 mins
but we could have gone two differen ways as far as ‘bad words’ like concepts like racism

like white people aren’t allowed to use certain words, because someone might be within earshot who, upon hearing such words, suddenly become so deeply hurt as to be ‘triggered’ into an uncontrollable outburst, or even be (involuntarily, presumably) moved to commit violence upon hearing certain key words – (or even perceiving certain ideas or thoughts, including factual statements, and even facial expressions!)  It seems
It is a barrier preventing us from ever being able to connect
divide and conquer
instead of ‘words can never hurt me”

I think it’s pretty deep and profound
they are instead of strengthening th eindividual children, they are weakening them
conditioning them, trained like dogs to react to certain commands

This all prevents us from being able to connect intimately with each other and truly see each other as fellow human beings, as individuals, rather than as just another one of “those people” – meaning, instead of seeing each other as just another “black guy” or “white girl” or (skin color) person) or (member of a certain tribe, nation, family, etc.)

The key to making this work for all of us, I believe, is for each of us to focus on the the things that we all share, not get caught in the trap of obsessing over such vanity as the differences in the shade or color of our skin.  While it is completely natural to use such ‘shortcuts’ to quickly identify who is or isn’t likely to be part of your “tribe”, we present-day humans are far too advanced and “hi-tech” to be using animal techniques to function in the modern age.

Because all we can do if we cannot even discuss or acknowledge certain VERY IMPORTANT concepts and ideas – for example, the idea that it’s healthy to be in good shape? Some finds resulting from a search of “self pride” meaning

-Arrogance makes one victim of self pride and inflicts with the fondness of selfishness to the degree that nothing will satisfy the arrogant except false flattery and fake praise.

-Shame is pride’s cloak.
